 EVONNE YIYU LIU

Yi was born in a little village in China, where she had the best childhood memories spent there with a big, loving, close-knit extended family.  Her parents gave up their comfortable and established lives in China to immigrate to the United States in order to give their child a better future.  They made a short stop in San Francisco first in 1994, where Yi acquired her English name “Evonne”. Half a year later, they moved and settled in Honolulu, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.  Evonne's parents work tirelessly to send her off to college in Michigan, where she spent years in the frigid cold pursuing her undergraduate and pharmacy degrees.  Fortunately, she was able to move back to the sunny state of California where it felt like it was always meant to be when she met Michael in Fresno.  Coincidentally, there were several other instances where Evonne and Michael were physically in the same place around the same time before Fresno: they had overlap in San Francisco, during Michael’s frequent visits to Ann Arbor when at medical school in Toledo, and when Evonne visited Fei at Cornell.  However, it wasn’t until that fateful year in Fresno that the stars finally aligned and all the constants and variables coalesced to bring the two of them together.  Throughout her life, Evonne was lucky to have the most loving family and friends who nurtured her growth as she traversed through the different phases of her life.   A lot of you may already know... she enjoys playing tennis, loves experimenting during her cooking adventures, and has a serious addiction to Chinese/Korean/Japanese TV dramas.

MICHAEL KING HEI CHEUNG

Michael was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Marina and Dickson Cheung and grew up in San Mateo, California with his younger sister, Stella, who he loves to spoil very much.  With the love and support of his family, Michael has managed to stay in school for an embarrassingly long time and has trained in several areas in the United States including Ithaca, New York, Toledo, Ohio, Fresno, California  (where Michael first met Evonne!), and most recently, Tucson, Arizona. Fortunately, it seems that Michael is finally nearing the end of his schooling and will soon be practicing in Radiation Oncology.  Michael enjoys reading science fiction, retro video games, and spending time with family.  He has been known to "occasionally" take photos, and sometimes even a selfie or two or actually hundreds...  His favorite foods include egg tarts, Chinese desserts, and ice cream.  He has a particular dislike of spiders, durian, and airport security screening.
